This week China is celebrating the National Holidays. October 1 is the celebration of National Day of the People's Republic of China, commemorating the formal proclamation of the establishment of the People's Republic of China on 1 October 1949. October 1 is followed by a week national holidays, the largest holiday after Spring Festival.

Yesterday we drove to the countryside of ๆˆฟๅฑฑๅŒบ Fangshan district in the south-west of Beijing, enjoying the hills, villages and autumn colors. The weather also marked autumn and upcoming winter this week with cooler temperatures well below 10 celcius in the evenings and nights.






So after a day of walks and sightseeing in the hills, it was time to warm up for dinner and indulge in hot simmering pots on coal in a local village restaurant; one pot with fish, tofu and Chinese cabbage and the other with chicken, frog legs, radish and potatoes...
