𝟭. January 4 – A New Year’s ice water dip to welcome 2022. Swimmers dive into freezing water in #Harbin, #Heilongjiang province.

𝟮. January 6 – As Spring Festival (#chinesenewyear) approaches, workers in Yangzhao village, #Shanxi province, are busy making red lanterns. With a history of more than 100 years of lantern-making, the village has become well-known in China for lantern making. There are around 20 factories and 1,000 workers involved in the industry there with an annual production of about 2 million lanterns.

𝟯. January 6 – The 22nd ‘Meet in Beijing’ International Arts and Culture Festival kicked off with a grand gala Thursday evening. The festival will last from January 6 to February 18 in #Beijing and will include this year performances about the culture and history of the Olympic Games as well.

𝟰. January 6 – A 3000 year old tomb cluster dating back to the late Shang Dynasty (1600-1046 BC) was recently discovered in Shaojiapeng Village, #Henan Province, according to the city's institute of cultural relics and archaeology. Located 2.4 kilometers from the palace and ancestral temple of the Yin Ruins, a UNESCO World Heritage site, the newly discovered site is believed to be a major living area for a clan named "Ce" in the Shang Dynasty.

𝟱. January 3 – Firefighters remove loose tiles prone to fall in aftershocks in Ninglang County in #Yunnan province. A 5.5-magnitude earthquake struck the county on January 2.

𝟲. January 4 – People read at the newly opened section of the Yongchuan Library in #Chongqing. The 7,000-square-meter section is part of the city's efforts to stimulate reading and literacy.
