Different China, Ancient Wintersports | If you think that snow skiing, snowboarding or cross country ski has its history exclusively in Europe, watch this movie of nine local herdsman from Xinjian Autonomous Region in Western China who went on a 300 km field trip last month on ancient snowboards made from pinewood and horsehide.

This ski mode has been in practice as transportation in the Altay region of North-West Xinjiang (bordering Russia and Kazakhstan) since ancient times. The field trip is made for the preservation of traditions in Xinjiang and promotion of this unique region with its splendid nature.
